Linebacker, Kansas City ChiefsKansas City, Missouri
Known by the name his grandmother gave him at birth, Boomer Grigsby came to Illinois State as a largely unrecruited linebacker. He finished his collegiate football career with honors that included a three-time All America selection, a three-time Gateway Defensive Player of the Year, and a three-time finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award. He joined the Chiefs as the first of the club’s fifth-round picks in the 2005 National Football League draft and signed a three-year contract in July. A linebacker on special teams, Grigsby earned playing time just months into his rookie season and was honored by being named as a captain for a game in November.
