Committees

  • Awards: Reviews nominations and selects recipients of the annual Alumni Association Awards - Distinguished Alumni Award, Alumni Achievement Award, E. Burton Mercier Alumni Service Award, and Outstanding Young Alumni Award. Participates in the Awards ceremony and the Future Alumni Leaders luncheon honoring students.
  • Board Development: Provides orientation and training for members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors and its committees as needed.
  • Chapters/Clubs: Advises staff members in all aspects of the Alumni Association's chartered chapters and affinity clubs, including providing input on budget issues, approving requests for new charters, conducting annual group reviews/rechartering, participating in awards selection, and assisting with chapter/club leadership training..
  • Executive: Represents and provides overall leadership to the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Includes the officers of the Association, the immediate Past President, and two at-large directors appointed by the President.
  • External Relations: Works to broaden the Alumni Association's network of influence and support, and to advance the purposes of Illinois State University within government, corporations/businesses, and campus constituencies as needed. Particular emphasis is on hosting the annual Legislative Breakfast in Springfield and selecting recipients of the Senator John W. Maitland Jr. Commitment to Education Award.
  • Half Century Club: Assists in developing and evaluating programming which will respond to the needs and interests of alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago in order to continue the relationship between ISNU graduates and the University.
  • Homecoming: Supports the University's efforts to bring alumni to campus for the annual Homecoming celebration.
  • Nominating: Recruits potential Association board members and annually puts forth a slate of nominations for membership on the Alumni Association Board of Directors and its executive committee.
  • Scholarships: Determines criteria and funding levels for scholarships and tuition waivers provided through the Alumni Association. Selects scholarship recipients as needed.
  • Web Advisory: Provides feedback and input, as requested by staff, on the Alumni Web site and the Alumni News E-newsletter.

Association Ad Hoc Committees:

  • 150th Anniversary: Established to develop and implement ways for alumni to celebrate the University's sesquicentennial year.]
  • Constitution: Bi-annually reviews the governing document for the Alumni Association.
  • Presidents Roundtable: Provides an opportunity for past presidents of the Alumni Association to remain connected with the Association and University.
